New York, NY (October 22, 2007) – Lee Daniels (Monster’s Ball, Shadowboxer) will begin production on the dark urban drama Push, based on the award-winning, New York Times-bestselling novel by Sapphire (a.k.a. Ramona Lofton). The project, recently greenlit by Smokewood Entertainment Group, will be a Lee Daniels Entertainment production with Smokewood principals Sarah Siegel-Magness and Gary Magness in executive producer roles. Push marks Daniels’ second project with the financing outfit, coming on the heels of Tennessee, the southern gothic drama currently in post production starring Mariah Carey in an ensemble cast.
